Counseling Is, for Me, Helping People Find the Way to Their Own Truth
As social worker and counselor, my way of viewing "therapy" is often quite different than the usual interpretation of what therapy is and how it should unfold. Trained as a systems thinker, I do not believe in individual pathology. Instead, I help people see the interconnecting circumstances that are contributing to the issues that they seek to resolve. I encourage them to find their own truth without placing value biases and/or "therapeutic" labels on situations. I believe that every individual holds the wisdom and the keys to unlocking the answers to every challenge they encounter in this life. I also believe that in order to access that wisdom and find those keys, we sometimes need help. That help should be like the cleanest of mirrors, provided by a professional who is well trained and who can provide a judgment-free environment. |
